BO-LOG'NE

Just like all other Japanese-Western restaurants in Hong Kong, BO-LOG'NE serves curry with deep fried pork, carbonara with a sauce that is slightly lighter than usual and pasta with mentaiko (marinated pole of pollock, which is a kind of fish). Which all sound great, but the two dishes that I have ordered (which are carbonara and pasta with mentaiko) taste mediocre enough, which may explain why BO-LOG'NE is the only the restaurant that there is no queue in front of it in Ocean Terminal at a Saturday night.

But, the Danish bread at the side of the dishes tastes great.

Carbonara
The Danish bread, which is similar to a piece of slightly more chewy croissant, is buttery that the margarine served at the side of dish becomes redundant. To enjoy it, you may want to take big bites rather than tear it into small pieces or soak it in the sauce of the pasta, which is flat and dull compared to its side dish.

If you want more bread, you could always buy pre-sliced ones at the entrance. They are available in two-, four-, and eight-piece packages.

A good side dish steals the show.

  1. Almost a year ago I went to this place and ordered a sandwich. I think it was okay but too expensive. Now I know why it doesn't have a queue on a Saturday night hahaha.

  2. @arturosc,

Indeed. But the restaurants nearby are no cheaper than it is.

  3. I tried this a few weeks ago (mainly because I didn't have much choice nearby). I cannot remember a thing I ate except that every fish comes with half a kiwifruit.. but not that it tastes any good...!
